Warning: this post contains images of violence that many readers may find offensive, disturbing, and frankly, nightmare-inducing. I recommend the consumption of a nice glass of red wine after reading this post.
I was away at work for about fourteen hours today. I should have known that the lack of timely food service would make the kitties unstable. I couldn't have known how unstable they would become.
There was carnage everywhere:
I mean everywhere:
Strewn throughout the apartment:
The perpetrator(s) had not, however, managed to mangle the victim's body beyond recognition:
(Note the passive-aggressive placement of the mouse carcass next to the food bowl, as if to say "Mom, why weren't you home to give us real food?")
And the cats weren't talking:
I'll have to do a lot of detective work to figure out what happened here today. I'm sure all I need to do is offer one of the kitties a little catnip, and she'll sing like a bird...
Mmmm....catnip.... -Emily

oh dear.. well then one less mouse eh?

Another one bites the dust!
Emily looks so relaxed and leisurely sprawled out like that. I' m jealous!

Hmm, is she exhausted because of destroying the mouse? Or more likely from the excitement of watching Perry destroy the mouse? Points to ponder, points to ponder...

A cat's gotta do what a cat's gotta do.

My cat caught a real mouse once and deposited its dead body (unmangled) in her food bowl. Yech.

It does leave you wondering what would happen to a real mouse, doesn't it?

was that a real mouse? or were no real mice harmed in the filming of this post?

thank gawd we're not talking real mice (though I do know a failsafe bait for mousetraps)

I suppose it could have been a lot worse. That could have been yarn or knitting that suffered the carnage.;) Good luck getting a confession. I have found cats to be particularly close-mouthed.

They're just doing what they're supposed to do.
