I managed to spend a good deal of my knitting time yesterday working again on the Year of Lace project. A lot of you asked about it: the pattern is Phoenix Rising by Sivia Harding.
Look at that! A whole 20 more rows of lace knitting. I really need to increase my speed if I ever intend to finish this.
This project is not going out in public tonight to visit the Yarn Harlot. First of all, I am quite certain that if I am capable of screwing up the pattern when knitting at home, by myself, in complete quiet - I am certainly capable of much worse in public, surrounded by rowdy knitters.
But, more importantly, you may have noticed that I am photographing this knitting on a towel, instead of on my usual picture backgrounds: couches, blankets, pillows. This is because the color in this yarn is rubbing off on everything. My hands, despite multiple showers and washings, still have a few distinctly poppy-colored spots on them. So, until I can wash the finished shawl and reset the dye, I am knitting with a towel on my lap, and I am making sure the yarn doesn't spend much time in contact with anything I love.
So, I will take various ReVIB projects to visit the Harlot tonight. If I last that late into the day. My sleepiness and exhaustion have reached new heights, so I am counter-attacking with caffeine:
Now, I know from much experience that caffeine does nothing to counteract my fatigue - in fact, that's how I identified it as unusual in the first place. Healthy me doesn't want to take a nap right after drinking a pot of lovely black tea. Fatigued me isn't fazed by any amount of caffeine, but insists on taking naps whenever and wherever. (Which may have something to do with how many of those rows of lace I had to rip back and reknit...)
I believe that, in my current inability to sustain any real work effort, I have committed to showing up at the Tattered Cover at some ridiculously early time like 1pm. If you're coming, come early and hang out with me, Wanda, Mary-Kay, and my caffeine IV drip!!
Can't wait, I feel good today, so I'm there with you my friend. I really CAN'T wait.

Oh, have fun!! Maybe you can nap at the Tattered Cover in a chair and have another knitter wake you up for the EVENT.

I hope you are able to stay awake and enjoy it! The lace is looking lovely, so all your effort is worth it.

1) At least it's a good color for you ;-)
2) I hope that your post about the Harlot indicates you got some energy back!
